Our Rector

The Rev. Dr. Caroline Carson

Grace Church is delighted to welcome The Rev. Dr. Caroline Carson, affectionately known as “Parson Carson,” as our new Rector! She comes to us from the Diocese of New Jersey, where she served as the Canon for Congregational Vitality & Engagement until diocesan restructure was completed.

Rev. Caroline obtained her Master of Divinity from the University of the South (Sewanee), as well as a Doctor of Music Arts from the University of South Carolina. She was the rector of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Beach Haven, NJ for five years, where she also served as Dean of the Atlantic Convocation. During her time in the Diocese of New Jersey, she served on numerous committees including the Environmental Commission, Diocesan Council, and as chair of the Global Goals Task Force and Companion Diocese.

A passionate global missioner, Caroline has traveled to 45 countries and taught in 11 of them. She currently serves on the Standing Commission of World Mission and as the Province II Representative of the United Thank Offering (UTO).

Mtr. Caroline+ previously hails from New Orleans where she was a professional conductor, university music professor, and a diehard Saints fan! She’s passionate about photography and cooking and is grateful for the opportunities that both nature and deliciousness afford for meditative time with the Holy Spirit. She loves life, coffee, weather, travel, space, and puns.

Caroline lives with her mischievous, but sweet cat Bluebell (10 1/2). She has siblings – a brother, Chris (52, married to Abbie, lives in Durham, NC), a nephew Jasper (about to be 16), and a niece Suki (12). She also has a half-sister, Pride Carson (SC), and two half-brothers Court (VA) and Neville Carson (GA).

“Just don’t call me late for dinner!” Mtr. Caroline, Mtr. Carson, Parson Carson, Doc, Dr. Carson, Reverend Carson. If you say “Coffee” she will probably turn around!

Mtr. Caroline is VERY HAPPY AND EXCITED to be moving to The North Country and to be our new Rector! She is looking forward to working with us in worship, spiritual formation, growth, collaborative ministries, and so much more! Her current move date is set for January 15th and her first service with us will be January 25th.

Please welcome her with open arms & hearts!
